Rigorously designed quantitative studies of ambulatory antibiotic stewardship interventions (randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies with stepped wedge and interrupted time series approaches), as well as qualitative studies describing barriers and facilitators to ambulatory antibiotic stewardship were included. Databases were searched through November 7, 2016, with additional titles added based on knowledge of the literature and relevance to the work.
