In addition, we provide an update on the usage statistics of our content over the last 6 years. Figure 1 illustrates the number of total access events for JABFM content from 2006 to 2011. With an average of 240,000 monthly and a total of 2.89 million yearly content usage requests, 2011 was the busiest year for online usage activity in JABFM's history. Content activity was up 17% in 2011 compared with content usage requests during 2010, and when compared with 2006, a 291% increase is noted. Abstracts were the most accessed during 2011, with an average of 82,349 monthly requests; followed closely by full-text HTML articles, with 82,266 average monthly requests; and then PDFs, with 50,926 average monthly requests.

As always, we welcome reader feedback about published articles. Comments about specific articles can be posted to the JABFM website by clicking on “Responses” in the middle column of the article.

We would also like to mention that in October 2011, we launched a new JABFM website for our readers. To quote from our new site, “the user interface is a flexible 3-column design that places many features at your service without taking attention away from the substantive page content. Features most closely associated with the page content are placed closest to it. A major goal of the design is to keep you in context as you conduct your research.”1 We hope that you find our new layout informative and easy to use and we welcome any suggestions to improve its usability.
