It is most common in the Asian population. We describe a case of a 28-year-old Sudanese man who presented with ascending lower extremity paralysis after treatment of hyperthyroidism with prednisone and methimazole. This case report reviews the literature looking at pathophysiology, causes, and treatment recommendations for this rare complication of hyperthyroidism.
