OVERVIEW
We are soliciting papers on the intersection of lifestyle medicine and family medicine. Family physicians increasingly recognize the value of lifestyle medicine and incorporate lifestyle change as a therapy with their patients.. We are seeking research and commentary on how family physicians and health systems incorporate lifestyle approaches into patient care and community medicine.
TOPICS
The following research topics are of high priority for this theme issue:
- Specific clinical interventions focused on one or more of the six pillars of lifestyle medicine: restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, physical activity, nutrition, social connection. (See https://lifestylemedicine.org for more information on the six pillars.)
- How clinicians educate patients on lifestyle choices.
- The unequal opportunities for lifestyle interventions.
- Patterns of disease driven by lifestyle choices.
- Population and community approaches to encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
- Public policy changes aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyles.
