"Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Improving the Practice of Family Medicine"
OVERVIEW
The Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine invites papers exploring racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion perspectives and solutions pertinent to primary care. The accepted papers will be published in an upcoming special theme issue.
TOPICS
The following topics are of high priority for this theme issue:
- Health system factors and interventions that contribute to equity and equitable treatment for all, including appropriate practice and clinical management that contribute to improved patient outcomes. This could include alternate methods of evaluation and management of individuals or groups of patients, decision-support tools, methods that change clinician and patient perceptions, and family interventions.
- Strategies for primary care to address factors than can create more equitable outcomes.
- The association of the provision of equitable care to clinician and staff career burnout or satisfaction.
- Novel community-based interventions that address health care inequities.
- Interventions designed to educate and alter racism among patients evidenced in the health care.
- Patient-informed interventions designed to narrow health inequities.
DEADLINE
The manuscript submission deadline for consideration for this theme issue is July 15, 2021.
