I must take exception to the conclusions drawn with respect to decline in the medical students' cardiovascular endurance. While it is true that a 4% decline in performance was noted, it must be pointed out that there is little incentive to perform at a high level during this run. A passing score is needed only, and the standards are set so low that most can pass without difficulty. I submit that were testing were conducted with true performance in mind, results would be much different.
