Regarding specialists providing primary care services in Colorado: it is interesting to note that the physicians questioned were not asked if they had a practice that employed or collaborated with nurse practitioners (NPs) or physician assistants (PAs) to provide these primary care services. While no one doubts that specialists provide primary care, it is well known that some specialists (e.g. surgery, ortho, gyn) employ or work with PAs and NPs because they can provide primary care services for the practice that the specialists do not have the time or desire to provide. I was wondering if the authors of the study took this into account. Respectfully, Dave Mittman, PA
