Diagnostic-Meditation Tool: Aug 2003 Nolan & Nolan determined that the repetition of the mantra by experienced meditators causes the extra ocular muscles to relax, giving up convergence, when looking at a near point object (thumb or pencil) and doubling occurs. Doubling continues as long as you are repeating the mantra and a single focus is not possible until you stop repeating the mantra. The significance of this is now it is possible to objectively determine if the relaxation response is occurring.
